The End of Stainless Steel Appliances?

Is it possible that we will soon see the end of Stainless Steel Appliances in Cincinnati homes? I would not hold my breath quite yet but like all things, design tastes and trends change with the times and we may be entering the end of the Stainless Steel era.
The Wall Street Journal has an article on the the most recent iteration of new taste-making colors and finishes. Whirlpool is betting on a new version white they call ‘Ice’, while GE is betting on a matte grey finish they are calling ‘Slate’ while Electrolux is proclaiming ‘Black Glass’ is the new Stainless Steel.
It seems that kitchen appliance trends have about a 10-15 year shelf life, so those who recently remodeled their kitchens in Stainless may have been on the tail end of the trend.
When clients ask us what t hey should do with their kitchen remodels we always advise them to purchase products that they will enjoy using. Tastes will change and the likelihood of the next homeowner having the same taste is slim. Buy what you will enjoy looking at and using over the next few years. Worry about trends when you decide to sell your home.
